Private Label Grow Lights: Put Your Brand on a Proven Platform

Designing a grow light from zero costs months and a lot of failed samples. Private label starts from platforms we have already built, tested, and sold at retail — including under our Maiicy brand on Amazon.

That means your first order can ship in roughly 8–12 weeks instead of the 16–24 weeks a custom design takes, and your tooling cost is shared across every customer on that platform rather than being yours alone.

Skip the R&D risk

The failure mode we see most often is a brand that spends six months and a significant budget engineering a “better” grow light, gets a sample, and discovers that the sample is worse than the one already on sale at a lower price. The problem was never the engineering. It was that there was no retail product to learn from.

Private label inverts that. Our platforms have a known PPFD, a known spectrum, a known thermal behaviour, a known failure history, and a known retail price band. You are entering a market with a product that has already answered the questions a new entrant would spend a year asking.

What you get

  • Proven fixture designs with in-house PPFD and spectrum data for the exact model
  • Your logo on the housing, carton, and manual
  • Your packaging — carton design, inserts, barcodes, manuals, and any language you need
  • Optional spectrum adjustments for your market and crop mix
  • Safety documentation for your target region
  • Flexible MOQs so you can validate a market before scaling into it

Every platform is available dimmable or fixed-output, which is the single most useful SKU decision for a retail brand: one fixture family covers seedlings, vegetative, and flowering customers, and a dimmer costs less in tooling than a second model does.

What private label does not give you

Being straight about the limits is worth more than a sales pitch:

  • It is not exclusive. A standard platform is what makes it affordable. If you need a product no competitor can buy, that is a custom programme — see our OEM/ODM process.
  • The performance is already known. You are not claiming breakthrough efficacy. You are claiming a reliable product at a margin that works. For most retail brands this is the correct claim.
  • Differentiation sits in the market, not the fixture. Your brand, your packaging, your listing, your content, and your support. The light is the entry ticket, not the differentiator.
  • Rebranding is visible to informed buyers. Some buyers will notice a shared platform. Most will not care if your service and price are better. Decide which of those you are before you launch.

MOQ and pricing

We quote from 100 pcs per model. As a rule of thumb, private-label programmes are priced in three bands:

  • 100–500 pcs per model — validating a market, one product, one market.
  • 500–2,000 pcs per model — the normal commercial band. Unit cost improves meaningfully and you can afford real packaging.
  • 2,000+ pcs per model — the best unit cost, and the point at which a second model or a custom spectrum starts to make financial sense.

We will tell you plainly which band your volume falls into and where the next break sits, because knowing the next break is often more useful than knowing the current price.

Branding deliverables we handle

  • Logo applied to the housing via screen print, pad print, or laser
  • Carton artwork, including your UPC/EAN barcodes
  • User manual and warranty card in your language
  • Colour and finish options available on the platform
  • Packaging to your specification, including plain brown box options for cost control
  • Insert cards, QR codes, and setup guides

A realistic first-order timeline

StageTime
Confirm platform and branding requirements1–3 days
Branding proof and approval3–5 days
Samples with your logo1–2 weeks
Certification confirmation or transfer2–6 weeks
Production3–4 weeks
Sea freight4–6 weeks

The variable is certification. If the platform already holds a report you can use, this can compress considerably. Ask us specifically which reports exist for the model you have in mind before you plan your launch date.

Is private label right for you?

It is right if you are entering retail or distribution with a market you understand, you want to be selling within three months, you would rather compete on service and price than on engineering, and you have no existing product to differentiate.

It is wrong if your entire strategy depends on a technical claim no one else can make, you need exclusivity in your market, or you already have a working design and simply need someone to build it — in which case tell us and we will quote you for OEM against your spec rather than talking you into our platform.

FAQ

What is the minimum order for a private-label grow light?

From 100 pcs per model. If your first order is smaller than that, say so — a sub-100 unit programme is occasionally workable and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth doing at that volume or whether you should wait.

How fast can a private-label product reach the market?

Around 8–12 weeks for a platform we already produce, from branding approval to sea freight arriving. The variable is certification: if an existing report covers the model, this compresses considerably.

Is private-label product exclusive to my brand?

No. A standard platform is what makes it affordable, and we sell it to more than one customer. If exclusivity matters to your strategy, that is a custom programme with different cost and lead time — tell us early rather than after launch.

Can I customise the spectrum on a private-label platform?

Within reason. Spectrum adjustments, dimmability, and form factor changes are possible on an existing platform, but each one moves the product closer to a custom programme and changes its certification position. We will tell you which side of that line your request falls on.

What branding can you apply?

Your logo on the housing, your carton artwork with your own barcodes, user manuals and warranty cards in your language, colour and finish options where the platform allows, and inserts or QR codes. If you need something not listed, ask — most of it is a tooling or artwork question rather than a production one.
